BEGINNINGS
In 1965, Jožef Smrkolj set up a workshop in the basement of his family home and started a locksmith business. The first major contracts included chairs for various halls – from the Španski Borci in Ljubljana to the Red Hall in the Moscow Kremlin – and lights, which still stand in Laško and Portorož.
GROWTH
The growth of the company – the introduction of new machinery and technology, an increasing number of clients and customers, and a rise in the number of employees – necessitated an expansion of the premises. Twenty years after its establishment, we built a new business facility with over five hundred square metres of space. In 2017, we added a new unit in the nearby Kisovec.
FAMILY BUSINESS
The management of the company is now in the hands of the third generation. A family business in the truest sense of the word also means the continuous transfer of knowledge and experience, mature decision-making, complete dedication, and responsibility towards customers, employees, and the local environment. The business becomes life itself.
